2.1.2016
Dear ladies and
gentlemen
“Start looking at the
sunshine, you will never see the shadow”
It’s time to see sunshine. I wish
all of you a happy and prosperous new 2016. We are stepping in to a new year
with this; UMDA has completed 10 years and stepping in to 11th years
in this month.
I also wish Happy UMDA
anniversary to all the members of this association. And welcome all of you for
this evening.
This Industry evolved
to address uninterrupted power need for the few critical
applications like data storage and data computation. UPS Industry found a
growth under an Information technology and telecommunications.
Few opportunities were
explored in back up power for electrical application and then now evolving in
to address wind and solar Industry.
Going forward the
electricity generation from variable generation is growing high rate. The increase
is driven by a combination of effects that include falling prices for wind and solar
generation. Also the concern about reduce the fossil fuel generation and
government policies.
In this emerging market,
one more promising opportunity opening up for all of us is Electrical energy storage
systems.
The trend is moving
towards product to energy availability. We all of us are struck with product
and become a product provider not solution provider.
Electric Energy storage
is going to address multiple challenges like
Mitigating a peak demand, Grid demand management, Smoothing out
intermittency, Maximizing the value of on-site generation, integrating
renewable in to the Grid through voltage and frequency support(like our ONLINE
UPS ) and increasing the reliability of use of renewable off the grid. However
growing integration of energy storage in to the national electricity market could present additional
economic, regulatory and technical challenges.
The different types of Electrical
Energy storage systems
1.
Mechanical energy storage
2.
Electrical and thermal energy storage
3.
Electrochemical energy storage
Mechanical energy –
a. Pumped
hydro,- pumping back the water in the hydro plant
b. Fly
wheel- mechanical wheel to harness electricity
c. Compressed
air energy storage- compressed air to get potent energy
Electrical and thermal energy
a. Capacitor
and super conducting magnetic coil.
b. Thermal
heat and cold storage's
Electro chemical and
chemical energy
a. Secondary
batteries – lead acid, Nicd, Lithium etc
b. Flow
batteries- energy stored in directly electrolyte- fuel cell
c. Hydrogen
or synthetic gases
The preserved energy in
different form shall be converted to Electrical energy and export to Grid.
Electrical energy
storage is in the verge opening a new vast market for all of us. All the
members in this association has to give thought on exploring this market to
grow further.
With these opening
remarks, I invite all of you once again this evening for the UMDA get together.
Thank you
