UMDA work shop on BEE speech by Ramesh shivanna 17.4.2015

UPS manufacturers and dealer association- BIS standards and star rating for the UPS work shop

Day by day we see the human life dependency of the electricity is increasing. Buildings are increasingly responsible for hosting number of energy consuming electronics and electrical equipment's  and general electronic products such as Refrigerators, washing machines and Air conditioning units, people with middle income groups are also buying high-end equipments. Also the formal and informal market of inefficient electrical products, influences the unprecedented energy consumption at household level. Therefore, Ministry of Power has established the Bureau of Energy Efficiency to monitor, register and verify the Energy Star Labeled equipment's which are more energy efficient and saves money for the consumers.
The consumers’ are in dilemma to know-how and select the best category of appliance according to their needs and requirement. There was a need for standards and labeling program because of wide variation in energy consumption of products, information on energy consumption being often not easily available or easy to understand from the nameplate and leading to continued manufacture and purchase of inefficient equipment's and appliances.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) has established comparative star labeling system for indoor appliances like tubular fluorescent lamps, refrigerators (frost free and direct cool), and air conditioners. Other appliances include distribution transformer, induction motors, pump sets, ceiling fans, LPG, electric geysers and colour TV.  But we all of us used to speak about bringing standards in the Inverter and UPS which equally used now days and become basic need in any house , commercial and industries. In fact from UMDA we had separate committee formed to build a specification and recommended to Bureau of India standards and also published in our publications to follow by all our members.
Today we all should welcome the BEE, which is extended the star rating mandatory to Inverter and UPS. This will help the industry to bring a standard in the product
More the number of stars more are the energy efficiency of the appliance. There are six significant benefits from this program which include providing information on energy use to consumers, enabling consumers to reduce energy bills, reducing capital investment in energy supply infrastructure, strengthening competitive markets, mitigating climate change goals and reducing urban/regional pollution.
Ladies and gentle this is a time to know and create awareness ourselves. The UL being a certifying agency also took initiative to educate us. We take this opportunity to welcome them for supporting us to conduct this workshop today.
We well come all the UL team, also well come all the managing committee and last but not the least all the members you all. Hearty welcome to you all
Thank you

UMDA gettogether 2016 speech by Ramesh shivanna

2.1.2016

Dear ladies and gentlemen

“Start looking at the sunshine, you will never see the shadow”   It’s time to see sunshine.  I wish all of you a happy and prosperous new 2016. We are stepping in to a new year with this; UMDA has completed 10 years and stepping in to 11th years in this month.
I also wish Happy UMDA anniversary to all the members of this association. And welcome all of you for this evening.
This Industry evolved to address   uninterrupted power need for the few critical applications like data storage and data computation. UPS Industry found a growth under an Information technology and telecommunications.
Few opportunities were explored in back up power for electrical application and then now evolving in to address wind and solar Industry.
Going forward the electricity generation from variable generation is growing high rate. The increase is driven by a combination of effects that include falling prices for wind and solar generation. Also the concern about reduce the fossil fuel generation and government policies.
In this emerging market, one more promising opportunity opening up for all of us is Electrical energy storage systems.
The trend is moving towards product to energy availability. We all of us are struck with product and become a product provider not solution provider.

Electric Energy storage is going to address multiple challenges like  Mitigating a peak demand, Grid demand management, Smoothing out intermittency, Maximizing the value of on-site generation, integrating renewable in to the Grid through voltage and frequency support(like our ONLINE UPS ) and increasing the reliability of use of renewable off the grid. However growing integration of energy storage in to the national  electricity market could present additional economic, regulatory and technical challenges.

The different types of Electrical Energy storage systems
1.     Mechanical energy storage
2.     Electrical and thermal energy storage
3.      Electrochemical energy storage

Mechanical energy –
a.     Pumped hydro,- pumping back the water in the hydro plant
b.     Fly wheel-  mechanical wheel to harness electricity
c.      Compressed air energy storage- compressed air to get potent energy
Electrical and thermal energy
a.     Capacitor and super conducting magnetic coil.
b.     Thermal heat and cold storage's
Electro chemical and chemical energy
a.     Secondary batteries – lead acid, Nicd, Lithium etc
b.     Flow batteries- energy stored in directly electrolyte- fuel cell
c.      Hydrogen or synthetic gases
The preserved energy in different form shall be converted to Electrical energy and export to Grid.
Electrical energy storage is in the verge opening a new vast market for all of us. All the members in this association has to give thought on exploring this market to grow further.
With these opening remarks, I invite all of you once again this evening for the UMDA get together.
 Thank you

UPS & Solar days 2015 speech by Ramesh Shivanna

Dear ladies and Gentle men

Putting days in to the life is aging. Putting life in to the days is growing. This gathering is witness that , the job of putting life in to our days. We were busy in the world of business looked each other as rivals. But SD awards came in to our life  10 year ago, recognized our work, created a culture within us, built a value system in this business community. Created an harmony among us.
I represent Powertrnix systems Ltd., Sadbhavana energy pvt Ltd., UMDA as general secretary, KRESMA as president. I take this opportunity to wish all of you behalf all the organizations which I represent a Happy UPS and solar Day.
Every year , when we  have been called to speak, we always speak about ourselves, our business, our Industry , and future plan… But when I have been invited this tme. I really thought about his passion in bring all of us together every year  since 10 years. Did some home work, google about him Linkdin and his website.
Man worked as System analyst(scientist) at NIC and had Plum posting with CM office directly on deputation. He created all  software, then he felt he can contribute to the common good of the people, resigned and started magazine in IT and computer domain. Being power back ground, he chose UPS industry as the medium to address then followed by Solar. Fought hard to get the status of IT equipment to UPS, he has played great role in this ups industry to grow in media prospective. Even he was chaired UMDA panel discussion on Reverse action. He is a philanthropist, educationist, completed his Doctoral degree on Transient Fault Tolerance computing for Illions, USA. Presented paper at LSE London, Later this paper is published by sage publication London & USA simultaneously.
He transformed Work into Worship & Worship into Wisdom, which he has dissipated to all of us. He is a man behind, to unite all of us, year after year since last 10 year, In spite of rough patches he went through in his family life, financial and health.  He deserves a standing ovation from the industry for his selfless service Dr Sai…. No body else could have been done this job consistently without any commercial benefits..your service is commendable to this industry…

Soft disk, carry the  legacy of  the oldest & largest UPS cum SOLAR magazine from India. With growing popularity, Softdisk has spread to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and other major cities in India. Softdisk firmly believes that the future of IT lies in rural India, with so much power paucity, it is imperative that they give so much emphasis on Power Availability, Power Continuity & Power quality.

Unless we take the services available to the urban masses to the rural India, we cannot realize the true potential of Indian Market. Soft disk fully agree to concept of ‘PURA’ put forth by our then President Late
Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Ji, where PURA stand for providing Urban amenities to the Rural Areas.

No wonders, Softdisk is much sought after in countries like asian countries Taiwan, Singapore, China, Bangladesh Hong Kong and the likes as they try to storm the Indian market ferociously along with the remote villages of Bihar, Uttar-Pradesh, Orissa & Madhya Pradesh.

Softdisk brings to you a wide array of information from latest product news to in-depth articles and software reviews our Network and Internet sections are especially beneficial to net savvy computer professional apart from their regular industry analysis of various segments of Power and IT.

These Surveys in its 23rd year has achieved tremendous response and is widely accepted by industrialists and the masses alike. Softdisk started in 1991 has been conducting annual surveys in various segments of Power & IT Industry since 1992 and has been coming up with what has been very popularly known as SD Awards. This has been referred by many as the fragmented encyclopedia of the Industry segments, these surveys are most eagerly awaited in-depth analysis of a particular segment of the Industry which user and companies refer to, as a decision making tool.  Unlike other magazines and surveying agencies they don't cluster all the segments of IT industry into one but meticulously Sub-segment even within the segment. SD's Top 10 for the various segment of the Industry is easily the most exhaustive and commonly referenced guide of the industry, which has started influencing the corporate decision-making and Govt. buying. No. Wonders, it is referred by many as the Bible of the Industry.

Now they have gone a step further by directly going to the end-user and knowing their satisfaction level for various IT products they own. This issue of theirs has received enormous responses by the corporate, Big business houses and even the Govt. They have been appointed as an active consultant for the IT infrastructure & power backup requirement for IT Technology Park to be set up in Bhopal, in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

Today Softdisk claims to have a circulation of 41000 copies, with faith 100 percent.  It should be one of the top circulated magazine with a reader ship estimated more than 2.4 lakhs.

All the UPS cum SOLAR Surveys are also archived in the web site. http://www.sdawards.in

They have the Hindi (Edition) of Softdisk also. I understand ,There Hindi effort too received enormous response so much and positioned no 1 IT Magazine in Hindi catering to the Hindi belt of India,

Hence they  apt punch Line:

YOU RELY ON US WE RELY ON FACTS.
Congatulations once again all you for getting awarded and thanks once again to  Soft Disk , Dr Sai for inviting me to speak few words.
